This is L's 8th grade school schedule for 2009-2010. This is Ambleside Online's Year 7 Lite with a few alterations. I plan to add some kind of basic grammar to familiarize him with the eight parts of speech. L does better taking books a little bit at a time. Where his brothers could do an entire chapter of Churchill's Birth of Britain in one or two sittings, L does better if I break that up over four days for the week. So it looks like he's doing more reading, but that's because, although he has more books each day, he has smaller portions of each one. This year I'm trying something different - I've scheduled everything in the order he'll be doing things. So, to be more in line with CM, his reading is broken up with specified times to practice guitar, do math, etc. (J has basketball practice on Monday and Wednesday from 8:00-10:00. I italicized/asterisked what will be missed then - we'll pick up as scheduled starting from 11:00 (an hour to drive home and shower), and then do the italicized part of the schedule later in the day. M/W's, we'll do an abbreviated version of our together stuff. So, 15 minutes for chores, 45 minutes for together stuff, and an hour of scheduled reading/copywork: two hours total to make up later in the day. View more of our daily schedules here.)
